Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support a mission-critical federal program in McLean, VA. This role operates within a secure Agile Dev Sec Ops  environment and is responsible for the design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of complex cloud-based systems and data platforms.
The Systems Engineer will provide hands-on technical expertise across full-stack development, cloud infrastructure, data engineering, security compliance, and system operations, ensuring systems remain resilient, scalable, secure, and compliant throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and sustain cloud-based systems using enterprise Sec Dev Ops  tool chains supporting CI/CD pipelines and microservices architectures.

• Perform full-stack application development using Vue (JavaScript), FastAPI (Python), and Postgre

SQL hosted on AWS RDS.

• Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code solutions for cloud networking, service administration, and application deployment.

• Deploy, operate, and maintain web services and applications in cloud environments.

• Implement cloud infrastructure resiliency, high availability, and on-demand scaling strategies.

• Engineer user interfaces and establish usability and accessibility standards across applications.

• Architect and develop large-scale data solutions supporting efficient search, analytics, and reporting capabilities.

• Perform entity resolution across large and continuously growing data sets.

• Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities and system accreditation efforts.

• Manage data set permissions and access controls in accordance with security requirements.

• Ensure IT security compliance through auditing, monitoring, and continuous assessment.

• Develop and implement configuration management plans and processes for software applications and databases.

• Develop and deploy containerized applications using Podman.

• Operate and maintain systems across development and production environments, including FidOS and CLSE.

• Provide operations and maintenance support for applications, databases, and cloud infrastructure.

• Resolve defects, implement enhancements, and evolve system capabilities in support of mission requirements.

• Perform continuous monitoring of system functionality and data ingestion during business hours.

• Maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) defining data ingestion standards and allowable schemas.

• Develop and maintain system documentation, user guides, and training materials.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience in software design and development using enterprise Sec Dev Ops  tools.

• Strong experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and microservices on cloud infrastructure.

• Full-stack development experience using Vue (JavaScript), FastAPI (Python), and Postgre

SQL (AWS RDS).
