We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong IT Project Manager to support monthly software release management and cross-functional technical initiatives. This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively coordinate across infrastructure, development, and business teams while ensuring high-quality code releases and operational stability.
The ideal candidate combines strong project management expertise with a solid technical background in Java/Python environments, Unix/Linux systems, and Dev Ops tools. Excellent communication skills and sound judgment in escalation management are critical to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage monthly software release management processes
- Ensure code quality, oversee manual regression testing, and support automated JUnit testing
- Coordinate environment changes with infrastructure teams and impacted stakeholders
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Incident Management, including communication, resolution coordination, and root cause analysis
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge repositories
- Define and implement new procedures to improve operational efficiency
- Participate in an on-call rotation (Northern Virginia time zone support required)
- Initiate, plan, and drive projects from inception through execution
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related technical field (required)
- 3+ years of experience as a Technical Project Manager or Product Owner
- 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining Java and/or Python applications
- Strong proficiency in Unix/Linux troubleshooting and shell scripting
- Advanced experience with Jira, including reporting and strong JQL skills (required)
- Experience with Jenkins for end-to-end build, test, and deployment, including integration with Git and Artifactory
- Experience with Service Now
- Strong business and technical acumen with the ability to determine when to elevate issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Release Management best practices
- Experience with Confluence Wiki
- Ability to quickly research, learn, and apply new technologies and methodologies
- Hybrid work environment
- Some after-hours support required on Thursday and Friday evenings (a few times per month)
- Compensatory time provided within the same pay period
