Pre-Sales Field Engineer - Counter-UAS & Defense Technologies | DoD Focus | Washington, DC
We are seeking a mission-driven Pre-Sales Field Engineer to support our expanding counter-drone and Counter-UAS operations across North America, with primary focus on Department of Defense (DoD) engagements. In this critical role, you will serve as a technical expert and trusted advisor, enabling the deployment of cutting‑edge counter-drone solutions that address today's evolving threat landscape. You will collaborate directly with defense customers, military stakeholders, and system integrators to ensure our C-UAS technology meets rigorous operational, security, and compliance standards required by the defense community.
Key Responsibilities- Product Demonstrations & Technical Briefings: Prepare and deliver tailored presentations and live demonstrations of Counter-UAS technologies to DoD customers, program offices, and mission units
- Field Trials & Proof-of-Concepts: Plan and execute operationally relevant POCs and field evaluations on military installations and government test ranges
- Technical Subject Matter Expert: Serve as SME on advanced Counter-UAS systems, clearly articulating operational and tactical advantages to military and government stakeholders
- Stakeholder Coordination: Interface with DoD end‑users, acquisition officials, defense contractors, and internal engineering teams to ensure successful demonstration outcomes
- Requirements Analysis: Assess technical requirements, operational use cases, and address complex system integration questions with defense clients
- On‑Site Assessment & Field Research: Conduct environmental assessments, RF spectrum surveys, and operational studies at military or government locations
- Field Engineering & Deployment Support: Lead engineering activities ensuring successful implementation of system designs in DoD or secure environments
- System Integration & Installation: Lead installation, integration, and validation of new Counter-UAS systems at DoD or partner facilities
- Technical Handover: Ensure seamless transition of mission‑critical information to Professional Services Team, including operational environment details, threat landscape, and infrastructure considerations
- Opportunity Development: Support business development by identifying evolving DoD mission needs, C‑UAS threat trends, and competitive activity
- Reporting & Documentation: Draft comprehensive site visit reports, test summaries, and technical findings for internal stakeholders and DoD clients
- Product Feedback Loop: Gather field insights and lessons learned from DoD engagements to inform product roadmap and capability enhancements
- Pre‑Sales Engineering
Experience:
Demonstrated experience as Pre‑Sales Field Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or similar technical field role supporting defense, federal, or homeland security clients - Location Requirement: Must be available for full‑time, in‑office position in Washington, D.C. metro area (no remote or hybrid options); must reside in the D.C. area
- Travel Requirement: Willing to travel up to 50% across CONUS and OCONUS, including military bases and test ranges
- Customer‑Facing Expertise: Exceptional interpersonal, briefing, and presentation skills with ability to serve as Subject Matter Expert in discussions with military customers and government stakeholders
- Field Demonstration Capability: Proven ability to manage all aspects of live system demonstrations including logistics, equipment transport, independent field setup, system operation, and real‑time troubleshooting
- Military/Defense Systems Background: Strong operational or technical experience with tactical systems, RF‑based technologies, EW, SIGINT, or C5
ISR platforms in military or defense environments - Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with engineering concepts and field deployment of RF, electronic, or mechanical systems; comfortable with troubleshooting and on‑site system support
- Foundational Tech Knowledge: Understanding of networking, IT infrastructure, and drone‑related technologies (GNSS, RF, telemetry)
