Summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking an accomplished technology leader to serve as Senior Director, IR&D and Labs. This executive-level position will drive innovation and technology development across the division through strategic leadership of Internal Research & Development (IR&D) initiatives, technology roadmap development, and coordination of innovation laboratory activities. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise combined with proven leadership in aligning technology investments with business objectives and customer needs.

What you will do

As Senior Director, IR&D and Labs, you will provide strategic direction and executive leadership for the division's technology development portfolio. This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Product and Engineering and is responsible for:

Technology Roadmap Development & Management:

+ Lead technology roadmap development and consolidation across division portfolios aligned with product roadmaps

+ Identify key technologies and capability gaps

+ Drive knowledge sharing and ensure common cross-division technical approaches

+ Conduct executive-level and senior leadership briefings on technology strategy, roadmap progress, and investment prioritie

IR&D Budget & Portfolio Oversight:

+ Plan, prioritize, and oversee division-wide investment in technology capabilities

+ Coordinate, track, and report on IR&D projects across the division's business units

+ Conduct executive-level and senior leadership briefings on IR&D status and budget

Innovation Lab Coordination:

+ Coordinate and enable innovation laboratory capabilities supporting technology development, maturation and demonstration

+ Identify capability gaps and align lab resources across the division

Systems Engineering Leadership:

+ Provide technical expertise and leadership across the division in Systems Engineering

+ Establish systems engineering best practices and tools, and lead engineers in using them

+ Drive engineering excellence in execution across multiple technology domains

What you must have

+ 10 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant progressive experience.

+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science, MS or PhD a plus

+ 10+ years of progressive experience (8 with a master's degree) in defense technology development and R&D leadership

+ Demonstrated success in rapid prototyping, technology transition, and fielding accelerated capabilities

+ Deep expertise in one or more domains: radar systems, EW, RF technologies, UxS, C-UxS, advanced sensors, algorithm development, advanced autonomous systems, modeling and simulation

+

Experience with DoD RDT&E guidelines, policies, and acquisition processes

+ Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment

+

Experience with technology roadmap development and technology maturation strategies

+ Leadership & Communication:

+ Exceptional executive presence with proven ability to brief senior leadership and customers

+ Strong strategic thinking and business acumen

+ Excellence in technical communication, both written and oral
