ETL Developer

We are seeking an experienced ETL Developer to provide onsite support for a geospatial visualization platform. The focus is on developing, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines to ensure reliable data flow into a Postgre

SQL database.

• Design, develop and manage ETL workflows using Apache NiFi to support a geospatial visualization platform.
• Learn the existing NiFi system and related AWS and Postgre
  
  SQL infrastructure to monitor and troubleshoot real‑time issues.
• Understand and maintain existing NiFi flows with minimal support.
• Create new NiFi flows that adopt best practices.
• Take feedback, implement requested changes, and communicate status via a ticketing system.
• Interface with analysts to understand future data flow needs and translate requirements into actions.
• Use a local containerized development environment and version control with Git and NiFi Registry.
• Gain competency in geospatial database design, indexing, and constraints.
• Programmatically manipulate and transform data from multiple sources.
• Query and analyze large datasets with SQL.
• Retrieve and process data from external systems via APIs.
• Support data quality, integrity, and performance optimization.
• Understand Python and data science frameworks to differentiate prototypes from enterprise solutions.
• Develop Python for data science related efforts or ETL prototypes.

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s with 7+ years, or Doctorate with 6+ years.
• Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Geography, or related technical field.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with required polygraph.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Willingness to work onsite full‑time.
• Experience with NiFi, ETL concepts, database management, SQL, API integration, and programmatic data manipulation.
• Competency in containerized development, AWS architecture, NiFi Registry, and Git.

• Creativity to recommend best‑practice coding improvements.
• Drive to adopt AI into development processes.
• Design and develop custom NiFi processors with Java.
• Experience with AWS cloud services for data ingestion and processing.
• Strong Postgre
  
  SQL, Apache Airflow, and NiFi expertise.
• Python for data manipulation and API interfacing.
• Experience with geospatial data and related tools.
• Understanding of basic data science concepts and tools.

Base pay within the Washington, DC metropolitan area: $ – $ annually.
