Position: Automation, Associate II (Hybrid - 3 Days in Office - VA)

Position Overview

At Freddie Mac, you will do important work to build a better housing finance system and you'll be part of a team helping to make home ownership and rental housing more accessible and affordable across the nation.

This position will work within the Platform & Infrastructure (P&I) Automation Engineering (AE) team as an accountable team member within the Automation Center of Excellence (COE). The core automation associates I/II responsibilities:

Our Impact

The Automation Engineering team are key members of the Automation COE. The Automation COE sets the automation guidelines for all Platform & Infrastructure teams. Automation developer contributions transform how Freddie Mac business units request self‑service platform services from the Enterprise Operations & Technology organization.

Your Impact
  • Support Automation framework design (Service Now Service Broker Provisioning / Retirement Catalogs to backend EAF)
  • Support Automation framework tools (frontline support, working with external application developers on access issues, getting connected or accessing data files, elastic monitoring dashboards)
  • Support Automation framework security and work with internal AE and Information Security Architecture and Vulnerability teams on remediations of vulnerabilities.
  • Automation framework usability, work with internal APS developers to support or provide/document new enhancements, requirements and acceptance criteria to the existing APS Service Catalog(s) and Provisioning Order Guide that simplify Freddie Mac's end user end‑to‑end automation and retirement services.
  • Collaborate with other Automation COE Service Owners to clearly document/maintain
  • Develop training guides using MS‑Word and/or Atlassian's Confluence
  • Collect new enhancements, requirements and acceptance criteria from Automation COE Service Owners and document in Atlassian's Jira story's or feature's.
  • Support Automation framework training, by working alongside our Automation, Senior's, Tech Lead's and Sr. Tech Leads, and updating Confluence pages.
  • Provide quality assurance (QA)
  • Support and participate in QA user acceptance testing in APS, RDW, EAF, CSDC, and DM
  • Support, create, maintain QA SOP, training videos and Confluence pages
  • Collaborate with the business units applications and support team members regarding the QA test results
  • Automation framework integration with other core P&I tools/devices
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2‑3 years of overall IT Experience with a willingness to learn IT Automation
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in Infrastructure Technology, related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Entry to intermediate level scripting and/or programming skills in one or more modern languages such as Python, Java‑script, Power Shell, Json, YAML, Ansible
  • Entry to intermediate level usage of Dev Ops CI/CD pipeline and build tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, Rafay, Gitlab/Github, Artifactory, Bitbucket)
  • Entry to intermediate level with REST API programming and system integration
  • Entry administration‑level experience with Linux and/or Windows operating systems
  • Entry to intermediate level experience with Atlassian Jira, Confluence, Tableau Reporting, as well as Service Now

  • Understanding of IT core services, automation provisioning using Service Now's Service Broker and EAF Ansible
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment and across multiple teams
  • Sense of urgency and able to apply a risk‑based approach to prioritize work
  • Strong problem solving and decision‑making skills and attention to detail
  • Motivated to learn new technologies and identify process improvements and efficiencies.

This position has an annualized market‑based salary range of $72,000–$108,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
