Transportation Data Scientist

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Transportation Data Scientist to join high-impact a high‑impact team applying AI/ML to transform safety, freight, and mobility outcomes. This role is located in McLean, VA through 100% full onsite presence. The Transportation Data Engineer will design, build, and evaluate AI/ML models using multimodal transportation data to advance mobility and transportation safety.

Responsibilities of the Transportation Data Scientist include:

* Design, develop & deploy AI/ML models for transportation use cases

* Build & integrate multi-source datasets addressing data quality issues

* Evaluate model performance & robustness & provide recommendations to improve scalability, reliability & trustworthiness

* Engage stakeholders via workshops/briefings, translate needs into roadmaps, proposals, & implementation strategies

* Collaborate cross-functionally to align with federal objectives, contribute to technical reports, monthly progress, risk mitigation & iterative model refinement

Qualifications of the Transportation Data Scientist include:

* Bachelor's degree in CS, Data Science, AI, EE, Transportation Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred)

* 5+ years of professional data science/ML experience

* Hands-on experience with Tensor Flow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pandas, Num Py & applied AI techniques

* Proven ETL/data integration with multimodal data, experience managing data quality in production-style workflows

* Strong model evaluation skills & testing under variable data conditions

* Active Public Trust clearance

Compensation for the Transportation Data Scientist includes:

* Salary: $95,000-$130,000 depending on experience
