Dev Ops Engineer and Software Developer - (Mid-level / Senior)

Security ClearanceCurrent/active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph or willingness to undergo one. Background investigation required (criminal, credit, references).
Role OverviewPelagic AI seeks a Dev Ops Engineer/Software Developer to maintain applications on a high side network, with expertise in Python scripting and Apache NiFi. Will support development and integration of intelligence capabilities into test and operational environments, design and maintain multiple Dev Ops pipelines across hybrid local/ cloud infrastructures. Work under senior engineers to develop skills in software development and Dev Ops.
Build innovative software with mathematical solutions for defense and intelligence communities.
- Deploy and manage highly available applications to ensure system reliability and scalability.
- Implement and maintain Hashi Corp Nomad and Kubernetes clusters for workload orchestration.
- Execute DNS configuration, management, and performance tuning for enterprise-grade systems.
- Develop and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines with Git Lab or equivalent to automate deployments and streamline development workflows.
- Perform system monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting to proactively resolve issues.
- Automate security testing and monitoring within Dev Ops workflows using ACAS and Trivy.
- Analyze cybersecurity scan findings and collaborate with the cybersecurity team to identify false positives.
- Assist in assembling Body of Evidence for False Positive exceptions and for containerized/non-containerized software packages approval.
- Integrate static code analysis tools (Git Lab SAST, Fortify, Sonar Qube) into CI/CD pipelines.
- Build and maintain custom tools for cybersecurity analysis and correlation workflows.
- Perform cybersecurity remediation on Dev Ops‑managed VMs, including OS patching, STIG compliance, and software updates.
- Build, maintain, and monitor configuration management of release products.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network, automation pipeline, and infrastructure issues.
- Current/active TS/SCI clearance and willing to pass CI polygraph.
- Willing to work in SCIF environment in Herndon VA, 40 hours per week.
- 5+ years experience as a Dev Ops engineer.
- Strong expertise in cloud environments (deployment, optimization, troubleshooting).
- Proven track record operating Cloud Native Applications with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience managing and integrating PKI certificates for authentication and authorization.
- In-depth experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
- Solid experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines with Git Lab, Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash).
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, thriving in fast‑paced environments.
- Experience with security best practices in Dev Ops pipelines (Trivy, Grype, Git Lab SAST, Sonar Qube).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Strong knowledge of networking and load balancing technologies.
- Experience with source configuration management tools (Git).
- CI/CD development experience with Bash, Jenkins, or Git Lab.
- Experience with automated deployment technologies (Cloud Formation, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Experience deploying and maintaining open‑source and custom applications.
- Moderate Linux system administration (Red Hat, Rocky Linux, Alma Linux, etc.).
