Health IT Software Engineer II – Position Overview
Joseph & Associates is seeking a Health IT Software Engineer to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Health Information Technology Unit (HITU). This position provides technical advisory support for enterprise Health IT modernization initiatives by evaluating system integrations, reviewing technical solutions, and supporting implementation planning.
The Software Engineer II will collaborate with Government stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to assess technical solutions, support interoperability efforts, and validate system integrations. This position focuses on technical oversight, coordination, and evaluation of vendor-delivered capabilities and does not perform custom software development or system configuration.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate vendor-delivered technical solutions supporting enterprise Health IT initiatives.
- Support technical reviews, requirements analysis, and solution validation activities.
- Coordinate system integration activities across Health IT platforms and supporting technologies.
- Identify technical risks, system gaps, and integration challenges while supporting issue resolution efforts.
- Support interoperability initiatives between Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and related technologies.
- Collaborate with Government stakeholders and vendors to ensure technical solutions align with program objectives.
- Support technical assessments of system performance, integration approaches, and operational readiness.
- Review technical documentation and engineering artifacts supporting Health IT modernization initiatives.
- Assist with technical coordination during testing, implementation, and deployment activities.
- Support compliance with applicable security, privacy, and federal technology requirements.
- Prepare technical findings, recommendations, and documentation supporting Government decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience supporting enterprise software engineering or systems integration initiatives.
- Knowledge of software engineering principles and enterprise IT environments.
- Experience supporting systems implementation, integration, or modernization efforts.
- Familiarity with application interfaces, interoperability concepts, and enterprise system integration.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting DHS, ICE, or Federal Health IT programs.
- Experience supporting Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization initiatives.
- Experience supporting enterprise healthcare technology environments.
- Active DHS Suitability required or Active Secret Clearance.
