Manager, Data Analysis – Data Management Risk and Analysis
Capital One leverages data to drive decision‑making across the organization. As a Manager in the Data Management Risk and Analysis team, you will partner with cross‑functional teams to validate analytical tools, influence business strategies, and provide guidance on data risk management.
Responsibilities- Refine a new Enterprise‑wide analytical tools validation framework.
- Plan and execute validation projects across the organization.
- Assess the quality and risk of analytical tool methodologies and usage.
- Understand technical issues in analytical tools and assess tool risks and opportunities.
- Independently research, identify, and prototype industry best practices for emerging analytical tools.
- Communicate results clearly and concisely via validation reports and presentations.
- Leverage training opportunities to develop solutions to business problems.
- Coach and mentor junior staff.
- Build strong relationships with business and technology partners to become a trusted data risk advisor.
- Perform gap assessments and recommend actionable solutions to close identified weaknesses.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science) AND at least 7 years of experience performing data analytics; OR
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field and at least 5 years of experience performing data analytics, with the degree to be obtained on or before the start date.
- At least 5 years of professional data analysis experience.
- At least 5 years of experience leading and developing with open‑source data technologies.
- At least 2 years of experience managing people.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in statistical or econometric hands‑on work.
- At least 5 years of experience manipulating and analyzing large data sets.
- At least 5 years of experience in the financial services industry.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and validating statistical or econometric models.
- At least 2 years of experience with data governance.
- At least 2 years of experience with predictive analytics.
- McLean, VA: $164,800 – $188,100
- Richmond, VA: $149,800 – $171,000
- New York, NY: $179,700 – $205,100
