Appian supports federal customers’ missions by delivering solutions using our cloud-based platform. Our Customer Success organization works closely with federal customers, advising and supporting them on how to architect and deliver Appian-based solutions. We are seeking a Solution Architect to help grow our federal business and design integrated solutions and compelling offers for Army modernization initiatives.
Role and Responsibilities- Advise customers on the technical design, architecture and implementation of Appian solutions on private cloud or on-premise hosting solutions, and/or integrate Appian government cloud offerings with the customer’s infrastructure.
- Support the sales cycle by creating high-value, differentiated solutions based on Appian technology, integrating program and project management disciplines with a compelling technical solution and delivery roadmap.
- Present and vet integrated solutions and complex technical concepts to customers and other audiences.
- Assist with configuration, testing, deployment and operations of Appian applications following agile methodologies and Appian best practices.
- Collaborate with clients on all aspects of their program to drive technical success and efficiency, including development practices, program management, governance and delivery automation (version control, configuration management, and Dev Sec Ops /infrastructure automation practices).
- Lead the definition and development of Appian Customer Success innovations and offerings to support delivery capabilities and capture emerging requirements from customers and industry.
- Collect and distill technical challenges with a team of architects into common best practices and solutions.
- Support the development and review of whitepapers and pre-sales proposals.
- Advise Army customers on positioning Appian as an agility layer that unifies mission and business processes across Army systems using features such as Data Fabric.
- Design Appian-based solution architectures for Army modernization initiatives that connect operational workflows, case management, process automation, and data orchestration.
- Demonstrate experience supporting or solving within the Army C5
ISR ecosystem and related mission systems. - Apply familiarity with Army enterprise systems and modernization programs, including ECMA, GCSS-Army, GFEBS, LMP, ACWS, and other CPE ES2-managed capabilities.
- Work with Army stakeholders, system integrators and technical teams to shape architectures respecting hosting, cybersecurity, RMF/ATO, data access and interoperability constraints.
- Support Army-focused capture, proposals, whitepapers and customer advisory efforts by translating Appian capabilities into mission-relevant solutions and roadmaps.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience advising customers on government cloud design and implementation, and at least 10 years of multi-tier application design and architecture.
- Experience with architecting secure cloud-based hosting solutions for federal customers on AWS, GCP, and/or Azure; leadership experience with enterprise-level cloud environments (e.g., C2S, JWICS, Gov Cloud).
- Experience authoring federal proposals and whitepapers.
- Extensive experience managing federal programs and projects and delivering IT using agile frameworks (Scrum/SAFe).
- Dev Sec Ops and Infrastructure Automation experience; familiarity with tools such as Jenkins, Puppet, Ansible, Salt Stack, Cucumber, JMeter or similar.
- Willingness to travel (10-15%) to support customer engagements including SCIFs.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to guide enterprise architecture teams during scalable solution design and implementation.
- Education and certifications: AWS/GCP/Azure certifications is a plus; PMP, and Certified Scrum Master or other agile certifications are preferred/required as noted.
- Ability to obtain a US government public trust and/or DoD clearance. TS/SCI with CI Poly strongly preferred.
