PhD - Data Science Internship - Summer

Job Overview

Current PhD Data Science Internship – Summer 2027 (June–August 2027). Full‑time, paid internship spanning ten weeks, requiring in‑person attendance in the continental United States. Interns are evaluated for a full‑time position with the team, with a potential offer after graduation. The internship does not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization; a full‑time Data Science role that follows may be eligible for employer immigration sponsorship.

• Currently pursuing or holding a PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field) with expected graduation by August
  2029 or earlier.
• Continuing the same course of study after completing the internship.
• Minimum 6 months of experience or academic work using open‑source programming languages for data analysis.
• Minimum 6 months of experience or academic work using machine learning techniques.
• Minimum 6 months of experience with Python, R, or SQL.

• Experience or academic work in inferential statistics.
• Experience or academic work with relational databases.
• Experience or academic work in large‑scale data analysis.

• Evaluate open‑source and internally‑developed modeling and analytics tools using real business data.
• Integrate internal data with external data sources and APIs to discover and implement actionable insights.
• Design and craft data science models to communicate solutions to customers and company leadership.

• Intellectually curious and eager to explore new ideas.
• Builder mindset with ownership of deliverables.
• Experimental scientist willing to test new tools, techniques, and feature engineering approaches.
• Strong communicator who shares technical ideas across verbal and written channels.

Salary ranges (annualized) by location:

• Chicago, IL: $160,000 – $160,000
• McLean, VA: $176,000 – $176,000
• New York, NY: $192,000 – $192,000
• Plano, TX: $160,000 – $160,000
• Richmond, VA: $160,000 – $160,000
• San Francisco, CA: $192,000 – $192,000
• San Jose, CA: $192,000 – $192,000
