Position Overview

The Global Risk Financing Manager will reinforce the Corporate Risk Management philosophy within Mars, Incorporated's global business units with the purpose of protecting human assets, preventing loss to the corporation's physical assets, and transferring the residual risk. The role administers all corporate property, casualty, and other insurance programs and maintains day‑to‑day relationships with Mars' global insurance broker(s).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably with a Risk Management or Business (Finance) major; an MBA in Risk Management or Business (Finance) is a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in a Risk Management department of a major multinational company, brokerage firm, or insurance company. Experience should include negotiating insurance program placements, coverage structure, premium allocations, policy wording, and third‑party contract review. Experience involving frequent visits to local plants/sites is preferred.
  • Strong functional and technical knowledge to act as each business unit’s risk manager, with excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, decision‑making, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, building trust and effective relationships.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative, manage complex cross‑segment projects, and coordinate multiple competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in PC tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, One Drive) and a risk‑management information system is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time, both domestically and internationally, and handle necessary administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for daily interaction with Mars and its global insurance brokers and insurers, managing program summaries, premium allocations, and claim support.
  • Support the Director of Global Risk Financing in implementing strategies, goals, objectives, and projects aligned with Corporate Risk Management.
  • Manage Mars’ International Employee Benefits risk‑financing programs in 70+ countries, encompassing approximately $50M in annual premium spend, ensuring alignment with local benefits commitments.
  • Identify exposure trends, processes, and recommend digital solutions to improve efficiency across Corporate Risk Management functions.
  • Consolidate insurance policy renewal data/value collection for all global standalone procurement policies, coordinating communication with Mars‑acquired entities and addressing inquiries.
  • Assist the Director of Global Risk Financing with the Corporate Risk Financing budget, including external insurance and captive renewals.
  • Manage payments of premiums, consultant fees, and allocations to business units for all standalone placements, including acquired entities.
  • Support captive operations, coordinating with the Captive Manager, legal, treasury, accounting, tax, and actuarial teams, and overseeing captive board meetings and operating budget.
  • Oversee procurement of all standalone insurance policies for Mars, including acquired entities, and manage the surety global bond program’s placement, renewals, invoicing, and termination.
  • Manage premium audits for all North American casualty policies.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is between USD  and USD . Base pay offered may vary depending on individualized factors. The total compensation package includes variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in a 401(k) plan, and paid time off. Details of participation in benefit plans will be provided upon offer of employment.
