Project Overview: The project involves supporting Capital One's Brand Horizontal Servicing, Risk Events, and Spanish Implementation team by creating, editing, and translating customer‑facing communications in both English and Spanish. The work primarily focuses on regulatory and operational communications, including letters and notices related to risk events, policy updates, credit limit changes, and customer account servicing. The role requires strong bilingual writing, grammar, and localization skills, with an emphasis on using neutral/international Spanish and maintaining Capital One's brand voice across all communications.

Candidates will work with reference materials, translation memory platforms, glossaries, and cross‑functional stakeholders to adapt and refine content in a highly regulated financial environment. Success depends on attention to detail, the ability to manage feedback from multiple partners, and willingness to learn internal systems, terminology, and compliance standards quickly.

They will review the portfolios of candidates and will figure out who the people they want to evaluate. There will be two evaluations—one in English and one in Spanish—to help gauge preferences and rank candidates higher.

Having strong soft skills such as good communication and judgment is important, because the role operates in an ecosystem where the individual will interact with legal teams, translation partners on the Spanish side, and intent owners on the English side. The regular day will involve receiving a briefing or request through the translation platform, accepting it, and starting the work.

There is a glossary of terms and a style guide. The team understands that the individual may not know everything and may make mistakes, and it encourages continued improvement.

The team has two other individuals. This role will not involve a lot of creative writing; it focuses on using references, leveraging documents that contain the required content, and performing mental cut‑and‑paste. These steps are key indicators of success.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of work experience in Spanish language communications or creative writing
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience in a Hispanic agency or in‑house Hispanic team
  • 1 year of experience in a financial or other highly regulated industry
  • Command on financial terminology, international spelling, and no typos or grammatical errors
  • Attention to detail

Note:

Must provide a portfolio for both English and Spanish examples—general picture of what you have done and where you excel. The file or link must be accessible.

Company Benefits & Culture
  • A team mentality; ease in collaborating with all types of people
  • A positive outlook and attitude
  • Opportunity to influence processes, architecture, and approach
