Position Overview —
LOCATION:
McLean or Richmond, VA. We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to support the procurement of materials and components essential to our cyber-physical security systems. This role involves sourcing a wide range of items including hardware, structural materials (steel, copper), electrical and electronic devices, and specialized security technologies. The Buyer will work closely with engineering, project management, and vendor partners to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality goods.
- Source and procure materials such as:
- Hardware for surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems
- Structural metals including steel and copper for installations and enclosures
- Electrical components such as wiring, panels, and connectors
- Electronic devices including sensors, controllers, and embedded systems
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and negotiate contracts to ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with technical teams to understand specifications and ensure procurement aligns with project requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
- Monitor market trends and supply chain risks, especially for critical materials like copper and semiconductors.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., ITAR, ISO, NIST).
- Support inventory planning and logistics coordination for project deployments.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in procurement or sourcing, preferably in technology, security, or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of materials and components used in cyber-physical systems.
- Experience sourcing metals, electrical/electronic components, and hardware.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or PMP.
- Experience with global sourcing and vendor development.
- Familiarity with secure supply chain practices and regulated environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
