Role-Specific Preferences

To excel within this specific Product management role focused scaling Capital One’s graphQL layer for real‑time data access, the following behaviors are important:

  • Strong Execution & Delivery Focus: Proven ability to drive product delivery, ensuring features are built and shipped efficiently and on time.
  • Excellent Communication & Stakeholder Management: Adept at clearly articulating requirements, managing expectations, and providing transparent updates to both the development team and relevant stakeholders, including those in different time zones or cultural contexts.
  • Technical Fluency: Advanced technical acumen to effectively collaborate with engineers, understand technical implications, propose and challenge technical implementations and help influence the technical direction of the platform.
  • Prioritization & Backlog Management :
    Skilled in maintaining a well‑refined and prioritized backlog of initiatives that help drive the overall strategy of the platform, including cross‑team deliverables.
  • Problem‑Solving & Unblocking: Proactive in identifying and resolving impediments for the team, leveraging their influence to drive clarity and alignment on fixes.
Basic Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience working in Product Management
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)
  • A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in platform product management or infrastructure/API domains (GraphQL, REST, API Gateways).
  • Proven ability to translate business strategy into consumer‑facing digital products.
  • Technical fluency to collaborate effectively with engineers and unblock team delivery.
  • Deep understanding of GraphQL architecture, including schema stitching vs. federation, subgraph/supergraph design patterns.
