Job Description & How to Apply Below

You will apply your strategic and analytical skills as Chief of Staff to the National Private Equity Practice Leader (PL). You will partner with senior leadership to develop and drive strategy and operational processes. This role will be a balance between operations, project and process management, change management, execution, and strategy, and will be responsible for enabling leadership to be as effective as possible in driving the strategy for the PE Practice.

You should be passionate about business strategy, management, operations, and people. This is an ideal opportunity to grow in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.

Strategic Partner to the Practice Leader

The central dimension of this role is serving as a fully aligned strategic partner to the Private Equity PL. The PL builds — you run. Your success is measured by the PL’s ability to say they cannot operate effectively without your partnership.

  • PL Capacity Extender: Leverage the PL to be in the market by keeping the engine running and all wheels turning in the same direction. Drive and support strategic initiatives specific to the PE practice, coordinate with and support Local Service Line Leaders (LSLLs), and own weekly, monthly, and quarterly agendas, materials, and facilitation for various audiences.
  • Workforce Management: Connect the dots between staffing, recruiting, finance, and pipeline to drive workforce efficiency. Translate what the market is demanding into hiring decisions in a meaningful and timely way.
  • Feedback Loop with Marketing & BD: Significantly increase the connective tissue between Marketing and the PE practice. Drive conversation between what our leaders are experiencing in the market to inform Marketing strategy.
  • FP&A Partnership: Accelerate the maturity of the FP&A model for the PE practice, enabling the PL to fully shift from backward-looking reviews to truly using data to drive decisions.

As a result, you will support revenue growth, cost of sales control, and margin protection for the National PE Practice.

What You’ll Do
  • Business Strategy: Develop business strategy in partnership with leadership that will drive growth, profitability, and success for the PE practice; hold leadership accountable for driving strategy forward.
  • Leadership Relationships: Develop strong relationships with key business and functional leadership based upon strong competencies, respect, and experience.
  • Team Development: May manage and develop direct reports as the team continues to grow. Coach and mentor team members with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Cross Country.
  • Process Improvement: Identify key people, process, and technology pain points within the PE practice and develop appropriate strategies to improve and streamline processes for both ease and scalability.
  • Change Management: Work with key players within Operations and leadership to execute key change management initiatives.
  • Communications: Develop and execute a communications plan; liaise with key players within Operations to ensure the plan is aligned with firm-wide communication strategy.
  • Financial Planning: Work closely with leadership and central operational functions to set annual budgets, goals, and actively manage concerns related to execution of strategy.
  • Financial Analysis: Partner with FP&A to establish KPIs, review and analyze financials and key metrics; participate in design of analyses that will illuminate issues and resolutions; translate reporting on trends into suggested actions.
  • Operations POC: Serve as the operations point of contact for events and meetings; share key Operations updates to the PE practice.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing firm-approved, AI-enabled solutions for clients, in accordance with company policies on data protection, intellectual property, and professional standards.
  • Stay informed about emerging AI tools and techniques and collaborate with firm leadership to identify compliant opportunities to enhance client solutions and internal processes.
What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in a professional services or finance-focused landscape; prior exposure to private equity clients or PE‑adjacent environments is a…
