What You Will Be Doing
This position is located at Langley AFB, Virginia, supporting the F-22 modification, repair, overhaul, and low‑observable aircraft production lines. Additional job requirements and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Read and interpret F-22 engineering drawings, technical manuals, structure repair manuals, and understand symbols, flags, and general notes; identify aircraft locations by station, butt‑line, and waterline as shown on engineering documentation and technical orders.
- Work with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and standard scales.
- Utilize tools including but not limited to drills, angle motors, shears, drill press, and pneumatic riveter.
- Bond aircraft parts, assemblies, and materials on complete and incomplete aircraft where methods and operational sequences are not established, complete information is not readily available, and tooling is not provided or is inadequate; exercise complete knowledge of bonding practices, procedures, make layouts and locate parts and materials for exacting fit where critical surface contours, edge distances or coordinated dimensions must be established and maintained;
verify application/condition of installed materials for conformity to specifications and determine material and time required to perform repairs; remove, take corrective action, and make re‑installations where design and modification changes. - Set up and operate various types of material testers and mixers.
- Record data and procedural information for future use by others; improvise shop aids to facilitate fabrication, application or assembly operations.
- Perform LO/SAS maintenance which may also include fabricating shims, brackets and plates as required and performing assembly operations such as sanding, trimming, filing, drilling, riveting, reforming, painting and fitting of parts and details; remove burrs or other surface imperfections as required.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean, FOD‑free work area.

Further Information About This OpportunityMust be a U.S. citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an interim Secret clearance to start with the ability to obtain a final Secret clearance.
Physical RequirementsThis position regularly requires lifting up to 50 pounds and performing repetitive movements, working overhead, using hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist. Confined space entry may be required. The position may also require extended work hours.
Basic Qualifications- 5th Generation Fighter Aircraft sheet metal experience, and/or low observable coatings application experience and training; 5 or 7 skill level USAF AFSC, Navy NEC, or Marine MOS discipline rating or an equivalent air frame and power plant, FAA certificate or equivalent 5 years experience.
- F-18/F-15/F-22/F-35 experience; low observable coatings application experience and training.
- Corrosion control application experience and training.
- Knowledgeable of tool control, FOD, supply, HAZMAT, training, quality, and security programs.
This position requires a government security clearance. You must be a U.S. citizen for consideration.
