Business Development Manager

McLean, VA, US

Avineon, Inc. is actively seeking a motivated, high-energy individual to drive development efforts and growth in information technology management for the U.S. federal government market. As a Business Development Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for business development and growth activities (identification, qualification, and capture) for the federal IT market. Reporting to the Vice President, Growth Operations, the individual will be on point to manage client and partner relationships and will contribute to the overall business development strategy for the federal civilian and defense markets.

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans in the federal civilian and defense markets.
  • Identify, qualify, and capture business opportunities; develop long‑term client and partner relationships; guide proposal development efforts; and perform other related business development activities delivering against an annual revenue target.
  • Leverage an active network of past clients and partners.
  • Demonstrate proven understanding of IT consulting and solutions and an in-depth knowledge of the federal sales processes.
  • Exercise exceptional communication, presentation, follow‑up, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Establish and build relationships quickly at all levels within the client environment.
  • Travel as necessary to serve client needs.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, marketing, or a technology field such as Computer Science or other similar degree.
  • Three to five years proven, direct client engagement, business development experience with a focus on selling IT solutions in the U.S. federal marketplace.
  • Seven to 10 years experience “actively” engaged in selling to the federal government. Actively, defined as having existing recurring client relationships up and down their target client/market focus that the candidate can name and potentially use as a reference.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with, leading, and significantly contributing to client IT modernization efforts based on client goals, objectives, and requirements.
  • Existing client relationships in the defense or civilian market.
