Armed Security Officer job at Garda World in McLean, VA.

We are now hiring a Tactical Security Officer. Must have police or military experience and an active armed DCJS.

• Schedule:
  
  open availability for weekdays and weekends; full‑time hours not guaranteed.
• Pay: $32.45 per hour for armed duty; $31.79 per hour when unarmed.
• Competitive hourly wage of $32.45 per hour. Daily Pay is available for Garda World employees.

• Maintain a commanding presence to deter potential threats.
• Be trained to respond to active shooter situations, hostage scenarios, bomb threats, etc.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for police, fire, and EMS during incidents.
• Maintain excellent marksmanship and weapon handling skills; participate in live‑fire and tactical scenario training.
• Demonstrate proficiency in handgun operation and firearm disassembly/reassembly.
• Display situational awareness, high integrity, physical fitness, and excellent communication.
• Provide excellent customer service; greet and acknowledge visitors, customers, top clients, and executives.
• Observe, survey the area, and provide reports on activity at the assigned location.
• Provide rapid response in critical situations.
• Write detailed reports as needed.
• Enforce customer procedures, regulations, and standards.
• Patrol sensitive areas to spot suspicious activity.
• Verify identities and control access to secure areas.
• React quickly to threats or incidents.
• Check proper functioning of alarms and cameras.
• Document incidents and actions taken.
• Respond to alarms and conduct on‑site checks.
• Ensure safety and protection of individuals and property.

• At least 3 years of customer service experience.
• At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
• 3 or more years of US military or US police officer experience required.
• 2 or more years of verifiable armed DCJS experience required.
• Ability to multitask and synthesize large amounts of information quickly.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Active Armed DCJS with handgun endorsement.
• Must pass an extensive background check, armed assessments, drug test, and physical assessments.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.
• Soft skills to manage various personalities.
• Consistently maintain an excellent uniform appearance.
• Pass a physical fitness test (running, push‑ups, sit‑ups, step‑ups).
• Pass baseline trainings, yearly refreshers, and psychological exams.
• First aid certification is an asset.

• High school education or equivalent (GED) or college degree/transcript.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background screening and drug test.
• At least 21 years of age.
