Electrician – Security and Electronic Systems (SES)

M.C. Dean is a Building Intelligence® company that designs, builds, operates, and maintains cyber‑physical solutions for mission‑critical facilities, secure environments, complex infrastructure, and global enterprises. We are seeking an Electrician to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit and support the installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic security services such as intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio‑visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, conduit, cable, equipment, components, and devices, following blueprints and building plans.
  • Install and mount electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and related components.
  • Perform interlock wiring as required.
  • Test electrical systems and ensure continuity of circuits using testing devices.
  • Inspect installation sites, study work orders, building plans, and manuals to determine materials requirements and procedures.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools.
  • Read contract drawings and troubleshoot EMS systems, smart breakers, and relays.
Qualifications

Clearance / Citizen Type: Applicants must be eligible for a U.S. citizenship investigation. Active Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with polygraph.

Requirements
  • Four (4) years of experience working in the electrical industry.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug test.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Availability for mandatory overtime, including night and weekend work.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time.
  • Journeyman’s license is required.
Additional Experience With
  • Leading teams on large, complex installation projects with limited supervision.
  • Leading and documenting daily toolbox talks, ORMs, and safety audits.
  • Installing head‑end equipment for access control, intrusion detection, and CCTV systems.
  • Performing take‑off project drawings.
  • Documenting daily reports and project progress.
  • Forecasting and managing project labor hours.
Working Conditions and Environment
  • Physically demanding; may work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must work at extreme heights, under construction, or in restricted areas such as switch gear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, or attics.
  • Must access work areas using OSHA‑approved ladders or stairs.
  • Flexible work hours; may work overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
  • Must maintain a professional image when interacting with customers and their representatives.

Abilities
  • Lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at heights up to 60 feet, including on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and various ladders.
  • Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected) and ability to see color; adequate hearing and verbal communication in English.
  • Use a standard ladder without exceeding weight limits while carrying tools.
  • Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong, even if not solving it.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
  • Combine pieces of information to formulate general rules or conclusions.
  • See details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally.
