Job DescriptionThe Backend Engineer (API Integration Focus) will design, develop, and maintain backend systems aimed at integrating new APIs. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable, efficient, and secure integration solutions that support seamless data flow across systems and enhance overall system interoperability.
Requirements- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- This position is remote but may require occasional onsite meetings in McLean, VA.
- Eligible states: AZ, DC, FL, GA, OH, ME, MD, SC, TX, UT, VA, NC, OK, WV.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of relevant backend development experience, focusing on API and integration services.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- API Integration and Development:
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Java 17+ and Spring Boot. - Ensure APIs are scalable, secure, and maintainable in a containerized Kubernetes/Docker environment.
- Integrate APIs with internal and external systems using Kafka-based event flows and Redis-backed lookups where applicable.
- Data Services Architecture:
Develop and maintain data services supporting integrations backed by Oracle DB and Redis. Design and implement data models aligned to integration requirements. - Database Management:
Implement database structures and queries optimized for Oracle DB; support data access and performance tuning aligned to integration patterns. - Server-Side Logic:
Build server-side logic with Spring Boot to support API integration; apply authentication, authorization, and data protection consistent with integration patterns. - System Integration:
Collaborate with frontend and API consumers to ensure seamless interoperability with backend services; coordinate with other teams to fulfill backend integration requirements. - Testing And Debugging:
Conduct unit and integration testing of API components; troubleshoot and debug integration issues to maintain system reliability. - Documentation And Best Practices:
Maintain documentation for API integrations and data flows; follow Git Hub-based versioning and repository management standards. - Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with industry trends and technologies related to API integration; recommend improvements based on performance insights and usage patterns. - Collaboration And Coordination:
Work closely with program leadership and delivery teams to support integration objectives.
