The Army Soldier and Weapons Systems Department is seeking a technically oriented Software Engineer with a strong interest or background in Systems Engineering. This role will support the modernization of Modeling and Simulation capabilities around Wargaming, Combat Effects, and Campaign Analysis for CPE ST3, DEVCOM Soldier Center, PAE Fires and other government organizations. Successful candidates will work with multiple disciplinary development and systems engineering teams to integrate complex capabilities and design robust simulation architectures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Apply expertise in Modeling, Simulation, and Software Engineering to develop, integrate, assess, and analyze advanced simulation capabilities for training, analysis, and mission planning/rehearsal.
  • Work within multiple disciplinary development teams:
    • Develop, make recommendations, and implement software engineering changes.
    • Deliver strategy and recommendations to deliver optimal technical performance through the application of software engineering principles and best practices.
    • Recognize technical challenges and work collaboratively with engineers to propose and deliver appropriate solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, document software designs, and assist in presenting technical findings to team members and sponsors.
  • Foster collaborative, positive relationships with team members, government sponsors, and industry partners to achieve mission outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., C++, Python, Rust, C#, or Java).
  • Knowledge of Modeling and Simulation;
    Full-Stack Software Development;
    Agile Development;
    Software Development; and/or Dev Sec Ops .
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
  • Experience in utilizing systems engineering and modern software best practices.
  • Demonstrates collaboration and communication skills to support individual, team, and customer-related interaction.
  • Critical thinking, analytic, and problem-solving skills - comfortable working in dynamic settings where task objectives may evolve or need to be shaped, or creative solutions to task impediments must be identified.
  • Effective interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to author technical reports, present briefings, and speak to audiences of all backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment, establish and leverage a diverse professional network, and integrate contributions from a variety of resources (people, tools, organizations).
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Game Development.
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Experience with development of military simulations, including discrete event and Monte Carlo simulation techniques.
