Job SummaryPromotes the development of character, leadership, cooperation and respect for others that will make the participant a better citizen. Develops athletic skills of students interested in competitive sport activities.
Essential Job Functions- Teaches necessary skills and strategy of the sport.
- Ensures the safety and welfare of all athletes.
- Issues gear to participants.
- Reports and records any injuries requiring medical attention.
- Helps custodial staff set up facilities for games/matches and practices, leans up afterwards (gear properly stored, towels picked up, chairs put away, lights off and doors locked).
- Helps with the checking in, cleaning, storing and inventory of gear at the end of the season.
- Verifies each participant has turned in a physical form and permission slip.
- Submits to the athletic director and attendance secretary a list of participants by the end of the second week of practice.
- Selects manager(s) and is responsible for their conduct at all times.
- Responsible for being familiar with the school/district policies and procedures which govern the work.
- Prompt and regular attendance is required.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Participates in various meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one's skills/knowledge.
Job Requirements - Qualifications
- Completes required online trainings.
- Ability to establish good rapport with students.
- Proficiency in administering first aid and prescribed treatment for common athletic injuries.
- Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.
- Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District personnel and the public.
- Maintains confidential information and the privacy of District staff, students, and families.
- Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and new or emergency situations.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
- Ability to respect confidential information.
- Computer skills to include use of word processing programs, database programs and the Google Suite of products.

The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; and use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to blood borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment varies but is usually moderate.
Terms of EmploymentPerformance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of coaching staff.
