Overview
The TRIO Coordinator coordinates services for TRIO program participants at Chemeketa Yamhill Valley Campus, including recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing support. The Coordinator actively identifies and enrolls eligible students, tracks progress toward program objectives, and provides direct support to a caseload of participants to help achieve academic success, retention, graduation, and transfer.
Responsibilities- Coordinate all federal TRIO grant activities in compliance with regulations, institutional policies, and grant application requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute program activities and events (orientations, workshops, campus visits, etc.).
- Implement delivery of student services, including success coaching and individualized support.
- Monitor, track, and analyze progress toward program objectives to ensure targets are met.
- Prepare accurate Annual Performance Report Data per U.S. Department of Education requirements.
- Collaborate with campus partners to build cross‑departmental engagement for program success.
- Lead recruitment efforts by reviewing, screening, interviewing prospective participants, and recommending candidates for acceptance.
- Assist students with advising holds for the TRIO caseload.
- Develop and administer surveys to assess student needs and satisfaction, using results to improve services.
- Track TRIO budget expenditures to ensure compliance with grant guidelines.
- Provide academic, career, transfer, financial aid, and personal advising covering college programs, admissions, registration, transfer requirements, student resources, and community services.
- Develop Academic Pathway Plans and assist students in achieving short‑term and long‑term goals.
- Monitor progress and use early‑alert systems to identify academic and personal needs, delivering targeted interventions and referrals.
- Document interactions and support services in detailed case notes.
- Embrace diversity and collaborate effectively with students, staff, and the public from diverse backgrounds.
- Participate in recruitment and retention of students to promote success.
- Use appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions.
- Provide high‑quality, effective service to internal and external customers through continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum 3 years of higher‑education experience, preferably with at‑risk students.
- Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency.
- Similar background to project participants.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience working with academic support programs for disadvantaged students.
- Knowledge of database systems to track student outcomes.
- Ability to collaborate with other departments.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Bicultural/multicultural skills enabling appropriate interactions across cultures.
- Experience advising at‑risk students at the community‑college level.
- Training and experience in areas related to program objectives.
- Similarity in background to project participants.
- Master’s degree or coursework in counseling, advising, student services, or adult education.
- 100%, 12‑month classified assignment.
- 6‑month probationary period.
- Required on‑site work as requested.
- Must have valid driver’s license to transport students in college vehicles.
- Flexible schedule required; may include evenings and weekends.
- Position may require personal vehicle use between campus locations.
- Residential requirement:
Oregon, Washington, or Idaho residency. - Background check required, limited to information relevant to the position.
- Providing false information results in cancellation of offer or dismissal.
Sedentary work, including occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; work involves sitting most of the time.
