Position: Summer School Student Worker (MHS Students Only)

Job Summary

Promotes in a positive manner the educational development of students; this includes academic learning and the enhancement of self concept.

Job Title: Summer School Staff

Salary: $15.55 an hour

Reports to: Principal or designee

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides instruction in literacy, math and technology
  • Maintains the confidentiality of student communications and keeps records as required by law, policy and regulations.
  • Creates a positive, safe and stimulating learning environment and maintains control of the classroom, supervisor areas, and assemblages of students.
  • Sets class and instructional goals in accordance with district goals and objectives.
  • Reports and records any injury immediately.
  • Assumes responsibility for the condition of the classroom.
  • Properly completes and submits all forms pertaining to absences, student progress, etc.
  • Responsible for being familiar with the school/district policies and procedures which govern the work.
  • Prompt and regular attendance is required.
Other Job Functions
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Participates in various meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one's skills/knowledge.

Job Requirements - Qualifications
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice strategies, i.e. cognitive, affective, and psychomotor areas of child growth and development.
  • Ability to communicate and work harmoniously with administrative personnel, staff, parents, and community.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District personnel and the public.
  • Maintains confidential information and the privacy of District staff, students, and families.
  • Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and new or emergency situations.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to respect confidential information.
  • Basic computer skills to include use of word processing programs, database programs, knowledge of the Internet and use of a modem.
Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; and use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to blood borne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment varies but is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of licensed staff.
