This position is 183 days with 6 paid holidays, paid sick leave and paid flexible personal leave (3 days per year). If hired after the start of the school year, days and leave are pro-rated. Job Summary

In addition to the duties in the IA I job description, the IA II will assist with daily activities and primary care of infants through preschool, including documentation, and to develop/maintain supportive, cooperative relationships with parents and children served.

Essential Job Functions
  • Helps support students in developing positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults.
  • Promotes safety of the students through the application of the district's student management and safety guidelines.
  • Supervises individual students, classroom and/or playground activities for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Takes steps to intervene when students are not in control, not in the proper location, or may be in dangerous or unsafe situations.
  • Responsible for being familiar with the school/district policies and procedures which govern the work.
  • Prompt and regular attendance is required.
Other Job Functions

Maintains classroom equipment, materials, and students' files, records, etc. for the purpose of ensuring availability of items as may be required. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Confers with teachers, parents, and/or appropriate community agency personnel for the purpose of assisting in the evaluation of students' progress and/or implementing of students' objectives.

Exercises discretion and assures protection of student confidentiality consistent with the direction and guidance of staff, administrators, and school/district policies and procedures. Participates in various meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one's skills/knowledge. Assists with the transition of students, including supervision of students to and from the bus, supervision of loading and unloading of buses, and supervision of students to and from classes.

Performs other tasks as assigned.

Essential

Job Requirements - Qualifications

One year minimum experience in a center-based certified child care facility. Medic first aid card with pediatric CPR training. Entry level PDR. Food handler's card. Knowledge of child abuse recognition and reporting practices. Knowledge of current child development/theory practices. Ability to assist with curriculum implementation and supervise high school students. Experience with all pre-kindergarten ages. Early Childhood Education certified or on year postsecondary training in ECE or human development.

Licenses,

Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required

Oregon Department of Education Fingerprint Clearance.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, staff, and parents.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
