10 Month Night Custodian – McMinnville School District 40
Salary Range: $17.73 - $21.55
Reports to: Lead or Head Custodian
Benefits: This 203‑day (10‑month) position includes 6 paid holidays, paid sick leave, and paid flexible personal leave (3 days per year). If hired after the start of the school year, days and leave are pro‑rated. The district provides medical, dental, and vision coverage.
Job Summary: To maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, teachers, and visitors, and to assist teachers and students in the physical care and upkeep of the buildings and grounds.
Responsibilities- Familiar with school/district policies and procedures that govern the work.
- Prompt and regular attendance required.
- Work from a prepared schedule performing sweeping, waxing, polishing, vacuuming rugs, and cleaning walls, surfaces, and floors.
- Move and arrange chairs, desks, tables, and set up and store bleachers if any.
- Perform routine housekeeping and grounds‑keeping duties.
- Clean and maintain areas of responsibility on an organized schedule.
- Communicate and work cooperatively with other staff (classified and licensed).
- Use tools and equipment properly.
- Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform moderately heavy tasks and all job related tasks with minimum supervision.
- Maintain a positive attitude, punctuality, and regular attendance.
- Perform tasks related to general custodial position, building use, and other duties as assigned.
- Perform other tasks as assigned and assist other personnel as required.
- Participate in meetings and professional development activities to improve skills and knowledge.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years experience in custodial work.
- Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.
- Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with district personnel and the public.
- Maintain confidentiality of district staff, students, and families.
- Work effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and emergency situations.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
- Computer skills:
Word processing, database, and Google Suite.
The employee must regularly talk or hear, walk, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, lift and move up to 25 pounds, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
Work EnvironmentThe role includes occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, blood borne pathogens, and moderate noise levels.
Terms of EmploymentPerformance evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.
