Salary Range: $17.73 - $23.76
Reports to: Lead or Head Custodian
Position Details: This position is 260 days (12 months) with 10 paid holidays, paid sick leave and paid flexible personal leave (3 days per year). If hired after the start of the school year, days and leave are pro‑rated. Job SummaryTo maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, teachers and visitors, and to assist teachers and students in the physical care and upkeep of the buildings and grounds.
Essential Job Functions- Familiar with school/district policies and procedures.
- Prompt and regular attendance required.
- Follow prepared work schedule; sweep, wax, polish, vacuum rugs, clean walls, surfaces and floors.
- Move and arrange chairs, desks and tables.
- Set up and store bleachers if required.
- Perform routine housekeeping and grounds‑keeping duties.
- Maintain areas of responsibility on an organized schedule.
- Communicate and work cooperatively with other staff (classified and licensed).
- Use tools and equipment properly.
- Comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform moderately heavy tasks.
- Perform all job-related tasks with minimal supervision.
- Present a positive attitude, punctuality and maintain regular attendance.
- Perform tasks related to general custodial duties and building use or other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Perform other tasks as assigned and assist other personnel as required.
- Participate in meetings and professional development activities to improve skills/knowledge.
Job Requirements - Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years experience in custodial work.
- Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.
- Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with district personnel and the public.
- Maintains confidentiality of district staff, students, and families.
- Handles work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and emergencies.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
- Computer skills including word processing, database programs, and Google Suite.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, walk, sit, and use hands for fine manipulation, and occasionally to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters. While performing the duties, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, blood borne pathogens, and moderate noise levels.
Terms of EmploymentPerformance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of classified staff.
