Job Description

The Production Press Operator routinely uses molds and presses to produce first-article and regular production parts in a timely and efficient manner with minimal to no supervision. This role follows written manufacturing procedures, requires the ability to recognize deviations from accepted practice, and involves close collaboration with co-workers in a team-oriented environment. The position includes frequent use of hand tools and measuring equipment to ensure parts meet specified dimensions and quality standards.

• Operate press machines to create parts using molds in accordance with written procedures and quality standards.
• Clean and prime parts using appropriate chemicals and solutions to prepare them for subsequent manufacturing steps.
• Measure stock to verify correct thickness and length before processing, using tape measures and precision measuring tools.
• Place a variety of materials by hand into molds, on mandrels, or in build fixtures to support the production process.
• Weigh stock and scrap materials to determine quantities and identify material that can be salvaged.
• Monitor individual production output for defective parts to enable early detection of issues and reduce waste.
• Use production equipment and tools, including calipers, scales, and other measuring devices, on a regular basis.
• Complete materials handling and production recordkeeping accurately and in accordance with company and ISO standards.
• Follow internal safety policies and procedures at all times while operating equipment and handling materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, free of safety hazards and clutter, including setup at the start of the shift and cleanup at the end.
• Lift and move materials and parts as needed to support production activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by production leads, planners, supervisors, or module leadership to support overall manufacturing operations.

• Ability to routinely lift and move materials up to 50 lbs safely throughout the shift.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions of stock and finished parts.
• Proficiency in using hand tools to fabricate and finish parts in a production environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand basic manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
• Attention to detail to identify defects, follow specifications, and maintain accurate records.
• Good hand dexterity for placing materials in molds, operating tools, and handling small components.
• Ability to work effectively on a production line and meet production targets with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment and communicate effectively with co-workers.
• Ability to follow written procedures and recognize deviations from accepted practices.

• Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of specific educational requirements.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment, particularly with presses, molds, or finishing operations.
• Skill in the use of hand tools and measuring equipment, including calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, scales, and other precision devices.
• Familiarity with production finishing processes and working as a finisher on production lines.
• Ability to work with chemicals and solvents safely, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Experience with materials such as polysulfide or wirewound components is beneficial.
• Understanding of basic ISO or similar quality standards related to materials handling and documentation.
