General Position Summary

The Lodge Skills Trainer is a position to assist in the care and treatment of youth with behavioral needs or emotional disturbances who are referred for respite services at the Rainbow Lodge. The Skills Trainer will provide a consistent presence, skills training, and emotional support in a safe, secure manner, to youth ages 6-17 that are served by the Rainbow Lodge respite program.

The Skills Trainer will work in collaboration with Lodge staff as well as Yamhill County Family & Youth Care Coordinators and families to determine appropriate skill building activities and opportunities for children and youth. Skill Builder will create safety plans for Lodge youth as well as intake documents to assess skills needed by youth accessing respite Lodge services.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Meet QMHA (Qualified Mental Health Associate) classifications which include a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (or a related field) or an Associate’s degree plus at least 2 years of work experience in Human Service/Mental Health field, or a High School diploma plus at least 4 years of work experience in Human Service/Mental Health field.

Reliable transportation, valid Oregon driver’s license (or the ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of hire) with a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability policy and personal automobile liability insurance.

Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.

Education and experience in a field relevant in the treatment of children with behavior needs preferred.
