Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Blackhawk pilot based in McMinnville, Oregon to provide helicopter services to Weyerhaeuser Timberlands in Oregon and Washington. Operations can require travel away from McMinnville—travel expenses are provided. Most operations are conducted locally, and the flight schedule is balanced to meet customer demand while supporting a healthy work‑life balance. Flight hours are managed each year in accordance with safety and company policy, allowing for paid time off.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Act as PIC or Co‑pilot of S‑70 (UH‑60L) Black Hawk in firefighting operations day and night, and other missions as required.
- Conduct aerial work operations such as aerial fire suppression, dispensing operations, external load, and reconnaissance.
- Operate on a roster that may require extended periods away from the home base on short notice.
- Be willing to fly other aircraft types if qualified and required.
- Engage in group or self‑study of aircraft systems, EPs, etc., and be available for training, check‑flights as required by FAA/USFS and Weyerhaeuser.
- Maintain written and computerized flight logs and records.
- Ensure all flights, operations, and other work follow FAA regulations, company manuals, policies, and Weyerhaeuser SOPs, and are performed safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a state of readiness for dispatch to emergency and non‑emergency operations, or to any other assigned location as required at short notice.
- Perform additional duties during scheduled shift as requested by the Aviation Operations Manager or Chief Pilot.
- Be able to relocate to the Northwest Oregon area and report to the McMinnville base within approximately 60 minutes.
- Commercial Rotorcraft Pilot Certificate with Instrument (Helicopter) rating.
- 3,000+ total rotary‑wing flight hours.
- 1,000+ hours Part 133 sling load / external load operations.
- Minimum 3 years / 500 hours in aerial work operations, including firefighting.
- Class II FAA Medical Certificate.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM) training.
- Ability to obtain USDA Firefighting Carding for the S‑70.
- Willingness to fly other aircraft types if qualified and required.
- Ability to relocate to Northwest Oregon and report to the McMinnville base within ~60 minutes.
- UH60/S70 Blackhawk type rating or current CFR 61.58.
- 100+ hours on UH60/S70 Blackhawk.
- Aerial firefighting experience in Type II (Bell 212).
Compensation
:
This role is eligible for an annual merit‑increase program, with a targeted salary range of $108,521 – $162,782 based on skill level, qualifications, and experience. Eligible for an annual incentive program with a cash bonus targeting 15% of base pay, and potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement

Paid Time Off or Vacation

Eligible employees scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week receive 3 weeks of paid vacation in the first year. Eleven paid holidays per year, totaling 88 holiday hours, and paid parental leave for all full‑time employees.
Position is full‑time, day shift, located in McMinnville, Oregon, and requires travel approximately 20% of the time. Relocation assistance is available.
