Summary:
We are seeking a Materials Supervisor to help stand up operations at our new manufacturing facility in Cookeville, TN. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape the materials and warehousing function for a brand-new site supporting three production lines, working closely with leadership to establish material flow processes from the ground up. The role will begin with hands-on training at our Justin, TX location to learn branch-level material operations, with the opportunity to support Rock Island (TMF) during the Cookeville build-out phase before the facility reaches full production in the coming months.
This is an ideal fit for a materials, buyer/planner, or warehousing professional with a supervisory or management mindset who is excited to build something new and grow with an expanding operation.
- Materials Management:
Supervise the receipt, storage, issuance, and movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods. Coordinate material flow to support production schedules and customer delivery requirements. Ensure inventory is properly labeled, organized, and stored in designated locations. Monitor inventory levels and work with purchasing and operations teams to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Oversee material transactions within ERP/WMS systems to ensure inventory accuracy. - Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all employees understand and comply with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable state and federal laws. Maintain safe, clean, and organized working conditions throughout warehouse and material storage areas. Conduct regular safety observations, inspections, and audits. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and implement corrective actions. Conduct and coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training sessions. Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of forklifts and material handling equipment. - Shipping & Receiving:
Supervise inbound and outbound material handling activities. Coordinate unloading, inspection, receiving, and put-away of incoming shipments. Ensure outbound shipments are picked, staged, and shipped accurately and on time. Verify shipping and receiving documentation for accuracy and completeness. Coordinate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments regarding shipment status and material availability. - Scheduling & Operations:
Assist in establishing work schedules and staffing plans for materials and warehouse personnel. Assign work duties and ensure operational priorities are completed effectively and efficiently. Monitor workflow and labor utilization to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. Collaborate with production, planning, and purchasing teams to support operational goals and customer requirements. Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies. - Inventory Control:
Lead cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation activities. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and variances. Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely reporting of inventory data. Monitor obsolete, damaged, or scrap material and coordinate disposition activities. Develop and improve inventory control procedures to maximize accuracy and efficiency. - Leadership & Employee Development:
Supervise, coach, and develop warehouse and material handling employees. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Train employees on inventory procedures, material handling practices, safety requirements, and system usage. Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching. Address employee concerns and administer corrective action when necessary in accordance with company policies. - Equipment & Facility Management:
