The position of cafeteria assistant manager requires an individual who is neat in appearance, clean in work habits and follows all safety rules; has the ability to plan, organize, train, motivate and supervise; is confidential; works cooperatively with others; is courteous; has a positive attitude toward work; demonstrates a …The person in this position ensures that Federal and State rules and regulations and local School Board policies pertaining to record keeping, meal requirements, and personnel are implemented and fulfilled.The cafeteria manager works with the Director of Nutrition in developing a food service program at the school on a sound nutritional, educational, and financial basis that meets local, state, and federal guidelines.To communicate with Director of School Nutrition and cafeteria manager any issues that may occur in the cafeteria or kitchen.Plans and directs the preparation and service of appetizing and attractive food in the correct quantities in the cafeteria by means of specifying duties and providing written work schedules to promote efficient production.To assist the manager in training and making staff recommendations.Works with principals and teachers to educate and inform the school population of regulations and other pertinent information.Increases participation through promotions and other available mediums.To obtain Level 1 certification through the School Nutrition Association.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Attend to job assignments, with an extensive knowledge of performance standards.Supervises and participates in the preparation and serving of food.Ensures that menus promulgated by the food services director are followed without deviation.Oversees and participates in the cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas.Completes daily register counts and procedures.Checks in all stock, following school nutrition guidelines.Maintains records on food and supplies received and used in the cafeteria.Assumes responsibility for checking that all equipment in the cafeteria area is in safe, working condition, and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs or replacements are needed.Maintains and follows food safety and sanitation guidelines.Assumes responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of their jobs as well as training all staff.Plans work schedules and arranges for substitutes when required.Attends, when possible, all classes and conferences for lunchroom workers that are held in the school system.Maintains required number of professional development hours.Observes all federal, state, and local regulations relating to lunchroom operation.Abstains from the use of tobacco and alcohol while on the job.Follows all SOPs.Performs occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to 40 pounds.Maintains and documents all employee time cards.Attends to all charges in a timely manner, abiding by all school board policies.Performs related duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 40 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds, extended standing and/or walking as the shift allows. Other physical demands may be required.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
