A stable, mission-driven organization in Central Kansas is hiring a Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting support, audit coordination, compliance, internal controls, and business office functions.

This is a highly visible role reporting into senior finance leadership with broad ownership across the general ledger, monthly reporting, budgeting, audit support, payroll, AP, AR, purchasing, and team leadership.

• Oversee accounting operations, general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting
• Prepare financial statements, budget reports, and internal reporting packages
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, variance analysis, and financial planning
• Coordinate audit preparation and work closely with external audit partners
• Support compliance, regulatory, tax, and financial reporting activities
• Oversee business office functions including AP, AR, payroll, purchasing, account activity, and cashiering-related processes
• Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting procedures, and process improvements
• Review payroll processing, tax filings, financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting accuracy
• Lead, support, and develop accounting staff
• Partner with senior leadership and department leaders on financial visibility, reporting, and decision support

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior management or supervisory experience required
• Strong GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, audit, budgeting, and internal controls experience
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• CPA preferred
• Nonprofit, education, public sector, healthcare, government, or other complex accounting experience is a plus
• ERP or enterprise financial system experience is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to partner with both finance and non-finance leaders
