This position is full‑time Monday through Friday during the school year with flexibility during the summer.
A Day in the Life of a Career SpecialistA Career Specialist identifies, recruits, and educates students who have difficulties between them and graduation while helping them make a successful transition from school to college, military, or career pathways using the JAG model. The role involves developing positive relationships with students through project‑based learning, trauma‑informed care, and employer engagement to deliver student‑centered programs that help youth achieve their greatest potential.
Responsibilities include instructing 35 to 60 students to ensure performance outcomes are met or exceeded, leading student conferences focused on career, civic, social, and service‑learning, delivering career exploration activities, and providing value‑added instruction, support, and advocacy to both graduates and non‑graduates through follow‑up services.
Qualifications for a Full‑Time Career Specialist• At least one year of experience working with youth or a bachelor’s degree (either requirement)
• Must reside in Kansas
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Proficiency with technology
