Loan Officer - McPherson-Main

ROLE

The Loan Officer will work directly with clients to assess their qualifications for loan services and provide recommendations for consumer, commercial and agricultural loan products that would best suit their needs and/or the needs of their business. This will also include reviewing lending applications to independently evaluate, authorize, and/or recommend the approval of consumer, agricultural and commercial lending products. The Loan Officer is additionally responsible for preparing any necessary loan documentation in order to comply with bank policies and loan regulations.

This position is responsible for the following functions:

• Evaluate application data to advise potential borrowers on the bank’s commercial, agricultural or consumer loan products best suited for their needs and the needs of their business
• Assist customers with completion of initial lending applications; review submitted applications for accuracy and completion and request additional information or detail as needed
• Verifies information and financial history provided; acquires borrowers’ credit reports from major credit reporting bureau(s)
• Examines application and creditworthiness of potential borrower; determines or makes recommendations regarding approval or denial/modification of requested loan
• Approves or, when outside pre‑approved lending limits, refers loans to management for analysis and approval
• Ensures loan agreements are completed according to policy; calculates and explains payment schedules
• Explains different lending and credit options and bank products to potential and current clients
• Maintains credit and lending records and files
• Maintains a robust referral network among the local banking community, with builders, real estate agents, and other related businesses
• Various other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field highly preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Full knowledge of loan services offered by Peoples Bank and Trust, understanding of all PBT policies and procedures related to loan services provided, functional understanding of reports required to maintain and track outstanding loans and a sound understanding of business finance principles and advisement

EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

2+ years banking experience preferred

Ability to hear average conversations at a standard level in an office environment around other customers and bank personnel

REPETITIVE MOTION:
The employee is regularly required to type throughout the day

FINGER DEXTERITY:
The employee is regularly required to use hands to type and maneuver a mouse

AVERAGE VISION:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus with 20/20 vision (with or without the assistance of eyeglasses/contacts)

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds (unassisted) as well as stand, sit, bend, kneel, squat and walk for long periods of time

General professional office environment with climate control. Adequate lighting. Required regular work attendance on Saturdays. Occasional additional hours outside of regular bank service hours to complete tasks.

REASONING ABILITY:

Strong numeric capabilities;
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and common fractions.
