Position: EHS Senior Associate – Industrial Hygiene (IH) - McPherson, KS

Responsibilities
  • Administer the site’s industrial hygiene program by assisting with the development and implementation of procedures, ensuring OSHA compliance and Pfizer standards.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene assessments of new products, processes, and capital investments to identify and implement controls.
  • Provide information, instruction, and hands‑on training to increase industrial hygiene knowledge at all levels.
  • Utilize Pfizer processes and tools to assess occupational exposures using strategies aligned with the AIHA Exposure Assessment Strategy (or equivalent).
  • Provide industrial hygiene guidance to the site emergency response team.
  • Assist with the development and lead the implementation of industrial hygiene controls and system improvements.
  • Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational disease and industrial health hazards, focusing on toxic substances, noise, and harmful physical agents.
  • Implement Pfizer sampling strategies to measure airborne concentrations of dust, gases, and mists; use air sampling instruments and collection devices to evaluate employee exposure.
  • Conduct audits of the site’s systems and processes and implement effective EHS cultural improvement and engagement activities.
  • Review, identify, develop, and deliver EHS‑related training programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments, internal EHS audits, and safety inspections.
  • Maintain EHS systems (e.g., Cority, Enablon) and develop metrics and trending reports for site leadership.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Must‑Have Qualifications
  • Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience; or a master’s degree with more than 0 years of experience; or an associate’s degree with 6 years of experience; or a high school diploma and 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and guidelines related to EHS compliance.
  • Strong understanding of industrial hygiene and safety programs.
  • Leadership, analysis, and judgment commensurate with position responsibilities and levels of Pfizer and agency interaction.
  • Experience performing internal audits of EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), including Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Power BI.
  • Experience with safety program development and cross‑functional implementation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills; creativity in problem‑solving and flexibility.
  • Comfortable making presentations to groups and representing the department/facility externally.
Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications
  • Experience managing facility and/or contractor safety programs in a pharmaceutical or related industry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and liaising with regulatory organizations.
  • Strong technical skills for industrial hygiene, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Professional certifications from accredited organizations such as the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, Board of Certified Safety Professionals or the National Safety Council, Institute of Hazardous Material Management (ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH, IH, EIT, PE, etc.) and/or environmental health and safety management systems…
