The Buyer is responsible for quoting and negotiating the purchase of various products and services; creating, revising, and canceling purchase orders and keeping appropriate personnel advised of changes or problems based on Material Requirements Planning (MRP); resolving purchase order, receiving, quality, and accounting discrepancies with suppliers and internal departments; processing and tracking corrective action reports, credits, and returns to suppliers; determining adequate inventory levels in accordance with organizational requirements utilizing MRP;
processing daily department paperwork and maintaining associated purchasing files.
- Manage vendor relationships, including obtaining quotes, negotiating cost, and monitoring compliance with purchase orders or other written agreements.
- Coordinate delivery of orders, notify recipients of shipment status, ensure deadlines are met, and expedite delivery as needed.
- Confirm receipt of orders by following up with recipient and reviewing systems.
- Maintain all documentation for supplier relationships and purchases.
- Keep a cost-efficient inventory by reviewing trends and past data and making appropriate forecasts to keep with demand.
- Evaluate MRP for accurate data and triggers for supply management.
- Review weekly inventory lists, open orders, errors, and usage data to ensure inventory is meeting requirements and goals.
- Resolve purchase order, receiving, quality and accounting discrepancies with suppliers and internal customers.
- Facilitate the return process of defective merchandise with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure processes are aligned with Viega corporate policy.
- Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
- May be required to travel up to 25% of the time.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of MRP processes
- Knowledge of computer software/programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MRP and SAP
- Strong analytic, planning, and scheduling skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to negotiate purchases and contracts
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Bachelor’s Degree required
OR
- High school equivalent / Associates degree PLUS 2-3 years of related buying/purchasing experience
- CPM, CPSM, CSCP and/or CPIM certificate(s) preferred
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Compensation Total Rewards Package- Base: $51,000 - $63,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
