Job DescriptionPosition: CNC Laser Operator – McPherson, KS. The operator will run and maintain laser cutting machinery, managing all aspects of production in a manufacturing environment. Direct supervision is provided by the Production Supervisor and Plant Manager.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate the CNC laser cutting machine.
- Read and interpret technical blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Adjust machine settings for optimal cutting precision.
- Perform equipment maintenance and routine inspections.
- Measure and verify part dimensions using precision measuring tools.
- Monitor cutting processes and ensure quality standards.
- Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Develop innovative solutions to novel situations while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Maintain tools and equipment to a professional standard.
- Coordinate workflow with team members and third‑party agents.
- Maintain high quality standards as determined by quality and engineering requirements.
- Perform additional duties as deemed necessary.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
- Complete production and quality assurance forms.
- Participate actively in team meetings and group discussions.
- Interface with engineering to accurately communicate information.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities or events as required.
- Adhere to Quality Management System Requirements.
- Maintain 5S activities.
- Read and comprehend procedures written in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical certification in machine operations preferred.
- 3–5+ years in a custom build shop (preferred).
- 1–3+ years of CNC laser cutting experience.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
- CNC laser cutting machine operation experience.
- CAD/CAM software knowledge.
- Basic computer skills.
- Understanding of material properties.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Effective communication skills with team members and management.
- Accountability for results.
- Critical thinking and problem‑troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to stand for approximately 10 hours per day.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Frequent standing, repetitive use of hands, bending, climbing, reaching overhead, kneeling, and pushing/pulling occasionally.
- Good hand‑eye coordination.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
Typical working hours are 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Overtime may be available or required according to business needs. Pay ranges from $21.50 to $23.50 per hour. Additional benefits information is available at
