SUMMARYTo supervise the preparation of a nutritious, attractive meal, meeting local menu and Kansas State Department of Education requirements, and meeting a scheduled serving time.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED).
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS- Two (2) years or more experience in volume food preparation.
- Communications skills for giving and receiving information.
- Basic skills in financial and inventory record keeping.
- Criminal history record from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Supervises and instructs kitchen personnel in the safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
- Checks food shipments into school, signing invoices only after each shipment has been verified.
- Supervises the storage and care of all foods and supplies.
- Ensures that menus developed by the food service director are followed by those preparing the food.
- Supervises and participates in the preparation and serving of food.
- Reports to the food service director regarding any personal problems.
- Confers with the food service director regarding any personnel problems.
- Reports to the food service director any faulty or inferior quality food which is received.
- Assists in special activities or dinners approved by the food service director.
- Maintains accurate records of food or nonfood items used on a daily basis.
- Makes certain all food service monies, equipment and supplies are properly secured.
- Monitors the food served to assure its high quality.
- To carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
