About the Role
The McPherson Police Department is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve as full‑time Police Patrol Officers. Officers will enforce local, state, and federal laws, investigate crimes, enforce traffic regulations, investigate traffic collisions, and assist the public. The department offers opportunities for advancement and specialization within Patrol, Operations, and Administrations Bureaus, including Investigations, Special Response Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Bike Patrol, Honor/Color Guard Team, Critical Incident Stress Management/Peer Support Team, Firearms Instruction, Defensive Tactics Instruction, D.A.R.E. Officer, School Resource Officer, and Social Media Team.
Schedule- 12 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Night shift
- Rotating weekends off with rotation every 4 months
- Overtime
- Holidays
- Extended hours, court appearances as needed
• Entry Level: $23.04 hourly (actual starting rate depends on experience)
• Top Pay: $31.05 hourly

The State of Kansas requires a sworn officer to be a U.S. Citizen, at least 21 years old, and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. A college degree is preferred. Applicants must:
- Have a clean criminal record
- Have vision correctable to 20/20
- Pass a written test, physical agility test, background investigation, oral interview, and additional conditional job testing
- Be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shift work, overtime, and court appearances
- Meet the residency requirement of living within 35 miles of McPherson City Limits, established within six months of hire
- Have no Brady/Giglio material in their background
