Juvenile Intake and Assessment Workers, McPherson and Harvey County Office
Harvey/McPherson Counties Community Corrections is seeking a Juvenile Intake and Assessment Worker (JIA) for each of the McPherson and Harvey County locations.
JIA Worker is an on‑call position that processes youth at the law enforcement center for various criminal behaviors or youth deemed to be a child in need of care. The position requires completion of an intake process which includes gathering information from the youth, law enforcement officers and family members, and accurately entering that information in a database. The worker also coordinates a placement for the youth based on assessed needs and the recommendation of the County Attorney.
Requirements:
Must be available for 12‑hour shifts Monday‑Friday and at least one weekend per month. The worker is paid for the on‑call shift whether required to report to the law enforcement center to complete an intake or not, and must be available during the 12‑hour shift to report within 30 minutes of a call indicating they are needed.
This position works independently under the general supervision of the Harvey/McPherson Counties Community Corrections (HMCCC) Deputy Director. Strict standards defined by legislation, agency policies and procedures, and the Kansas Department of Corrections/Juvenile Services must be met.
QualificationsHarvey/McPherson Counties Community Corrections conducts background checks on all potential candidates. Consideration will not be given for the following:
Adult Felony conviction(s);
Juvenile Felony conviction(s);
Confirmed and/or substantiated case of Adult abuse or neglect;
Confirmed and/or substantiated case of Juvenile abuse or neglect.
Must be able to work in a respectful manner with all community partners, take directions, and present concise information regarding the youth to the County Attorney and community partners. Must be able to accurately enter information into a database. The JIA Worker will be part of a team that works together to cover all shifts.
BenefitsSalary range: $500 or $237.69 per pay period (changes with weekday shifts and weekend shifts). EOE.
