- Position
Purpose:
The teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students, creates an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social and emotional development, supervises students, monitors outcomes, communicates with students, parents, staff and community, develops instructional plans, maintains records, follows procedures, and monitors equipment and facilities. Teaching areas include all certified core and specialty areas.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an applicable field for applicable level(s)
- Extensive knowledge of ABSS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum and ABSS policies and effective instructional practices
- Understanding of teaching and learning process in grades K‑12
- Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
- Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum
- Constantly monitor safety and well‑being of students, especially inclusive activities
- Ability to motivate and inspire students
- Maintain clean and orderly environment
- Perform general clerical duties
- Maintain order and discipline in classroom and other school environments
- Operate common office machines
- Maintain basic files and records
- Work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, staff, students, parents and community
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an applicable field for applicable level(s)
- If transferring from a teaching position from another school system, must have received routine meets standards or above standard evaluations with no action plans for improvement
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Must hold a valid Teacher’s License issued by the state of NC in applicable field and for level assigned
- Must not be on the NCDPI list of teachers no longer qualified to teach or currently engaged in a certification revocation hearing process
- Must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
- National Board Certification
- Demonstrated record of achieving Highly Qualified status on evaluations
- Spanish Speaking
- Plan a program of study meeting the needs, interests and abilities of students
- Regularly meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations
- Create a classroom environment that involves students and enables learning objectives achievement
- Provide instructional program for all students
- Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon supervisor’s request
- Guide learning toward curriculum goals in harmony with ABSS framework and human growth knowledge
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, projects to communicate effectively to students
- Utilize instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques that motivate students
- Take necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, ABSS policy, NCDPI and regulations
- Assist implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develop classroom behavior rules and maintain fair order
- Be available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside instructional day when required
- Establish relationships reflecting respect of every individual
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers
- Appraise own effectiveness and demonstrate application of skills to increase effectiveness
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
- Participate in school management and share responsibilities for total school program
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
- Administer and supervise standardized test administrations per applicable codes and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
