Job SummaryWorking under general direction, performs a variety of difficult assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative to resolve. As a skilled specialist, completes tasks using creative and effective approaches. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and understands implications of work to make recommendations for solutions.
Responsibilities- Utilizing diagnostic equipment, processes and procedures, troubleshoot non-functioning equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Maintain proficiency with diagnostic software at all levels.
- Dismantle, adjust, repair and assemble equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches, or drawings.
- Rebuild manufacturing equipment as required.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document maintenance as per program designation.
- Monitor work order backlog and proactively keep management apprised of potential impacts to production.
- Calibrate equipment using general and special purpose test equipment.
- Communicate with equipment suppliers regarding repair of equipment.
- Make recommendations regarding design and specifications of equipment and design enhancements/modifications to production equipment.
- Train lower-level technicians in the maintenance of equipment.
- Provide back-up supervisory duties when required.
- Work overtime or be on-call as required.
- Comply with all procedures within the company security policy.
- Gather quotes from vendors for repair/spare parts and order when needed.
- Actively work with all technicians on the production floor for 90% of the workday.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
- Read, write, and communicate in English; effectively communicate with technical support services.
- Thorough working knowledge and troubleshooting capability with various electro‑mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment gained through extensive experience.
- Use of basic and special purpose hand tools, leveling instruments, and test/calibration equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot all failures detectable at the IO level.
- Basic mathematics.
- Understanding of electronic color codes and other component value markings.
- Understanding of safety practices requirements.
- Solid knowledge of specialized maintenance tracking programs.
- Personal computer operation in a Windows environment (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and e‑mail).
- Provide electrical systems troubleshooting from 5 V to 480 V.
- Read and understand hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical prints.
- Associate’s degree in electronics with emphasis in servo positioning theory or equivalent.
- Eight (8) to ten (10) years of prior work experience in electro‑mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in leading a team of technicians.
- Experience with injection molding machines preferred.
- Experience with automation equipment preferred.
