This position reports to:HSE Manager
The Health, Safety and Environment Specialist contributes to improving Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance in the assigned area of responsibility to cultivate a high-performance culture with a strong focus on HSE. Supports the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge and offering solutions and advice. Ensures effective risk management through HSE excellence along the ABB value chain.
The work model for the role is:
Onsite, Mebane, NC
- Lead HSE risk assessment activities with line management, ensuring identified hazards are mitigated through effective preventive and corrective actions while promoting a proactive safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and ABB HSE standards by implementing policies, supporting audits, and advising leaders on HSE responsibilities, obligations, and best practices.
- Drive incident management processes by facilitating investigations, conducting root cause analyses, and developing corrective action plans to reduce risk and prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and report HSE performance metrics, incidents, KPIs, and training effectiveness, providing actionable insights, lessons learned, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Champion HSE engagement, training, and improvement initiatives by partnering with employees, managers, customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders to strengthen safety performance, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
- High school Diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience
- Expertise to work with diversified functions to deploy policies in the HSE domain preferred
- Knowledge of state-specific safety programs such as North Carolina Safe Star preferred
