This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial operations while also evaluating our existing financial systems and processes, strengthening internal controls, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending improvements that will support Cornerstone's continued growth.

The Director of Finance will report functionally to our Fractional CFO and work closely with the Chief Administrative Officer, executive leadership, and finance and operational teams.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash-flow information, and management reports.
  • Evaluate accounting, billing, payroll, purchasing, and reconciliation processes for accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and internal control.
  • Identify recurring financial issues, determine root causes, and present practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee RAMP corporate card and expense-management processes, including coding, receipts, approvals, permissions, reconciliations, and purchasing controls.
  • Monitor Medicaid revenue, billing, accounts receivable, and related reconciliations.
  • Coordinate budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and analysis.
  • Support external audits, tax reporting, Form 990 preparation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls and appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Supervise and develop finance staff and establish clear accountability for financial responsibilities.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of future accounting and financial systems.
Qualifications

We are seeking a finance professional with strong accounting expertise combined with excellent analytical, leadership, systems, and problem-solving skills.

Required experience includes:
  • One or more accounting degrees or closely related fields of study.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Strong hands-on Quick Books Desktop experience.
  • Experience with corporate credit cards and expense management.
  • Experience evaluating financial processes and implementing meaningful system and workflow improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify the root cause of financial or operational problems.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial matters and recommendations clearly to non-financial leaders.
  • Experience supervising and developing accounting or finance staff.
  • High standards of accuracy, integrity, accountability, and confidentiality.
Preferred Experience:

Our ideal candidate is a CPA with depth of experience in at least two of the following areas:

  • Nonprofit accounting,
  • Medicaid-funded services,
  • Healthcare,
  • Human services,
  • Multi-location organizations,
  • Other highly regulated environments.
  • RAMP credit cards bill pay.
  • Accounting system selections and implementation.
The Opportunity

Cornerstone is looking for more than someone to maintain our existing accounting processes. We are seeking a finance leader who can evaluate where we are today and help us build the financial infrastructure we need for the future.

The successful candidate will be comfortable learning our current systems, identifying weaknesses and opportunities, evaluating potential solutions, and presenting well-supported recommendations to leadership.

This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to have a meaningful role in strengthening the financial operations of a growing organization while supporting Cornerstone's mission of providing high-quality services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
