Weekly Estimated Pay Range:  $96,490–$103,380

On-Call Compensation:  $4,595–$6,000 for 24-hour on-call coverage; up to $9,000 for 24-hour holiday coverage

Coverage:  24-hour on-call GI coverage (includes call-back needs)

Shift Duration:  12 Hour Rotating

Job Requirements (Gastroenterology Physician)

Experience:

Gastroenterology experience with hospital call and procedural/endoscopy coverage

Board Certification:  Board Certified Gastroenterology – Required

Licensure:  Active Virginia medical license – Required

Procedures:
ERCP required ;  EUS preferred

Vaccinations:  Flu shot required; COVID vaccine highly preferred

Availability:  Must be available to cover an open shift block to be considered

Professional History:  Clean malpractice history required for temporary privileges

Documentation:  Self-Query NPDB report required (dated within 30 days of presentation)

Responsibilities (Adult GI Call Coverage & Endoscopy)

Provide timely, high-quality  24-hour gastroenterology call coverage  for adult patients in a hospital setting (including call-back needs)

Coordinate care with hospital teams and clinic partners as needed during call coverage

Perform and interpret GI procedures (average  ~8 procedures per week )

Document patient care accurately and efficiently in  Epic EMR

Deliver advanced endoscopic care, including  ERCP  (required) and  EUS  (preferred)

Key procedures may include:

Colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and lower GI endoscopy

Upper GI endoscopy (diagnostic/therapeutic), including biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeding, variceal injection/banding

Esophageal dilatation and manometry; manometry interpretation

Small bowel biopsy; liver biopsy

PEG placement

Insertion/management of Sengstaken–Blakemore tube

ERCP (required) ;  EUS (preferred)
