Your Role as an Experienced Assistant Teacher

As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll work closely with Lead Teachers to deliver a nurturing, safe, and educational classroom environment for infants and/or toddlers. You’ll help implement play-based learning activities
, manage classroom routines, and provide individualized attention that supports each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support daily routines including circle time, story time, snack, outdoor play, and rest time
  • Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation based on children’s developmental needs and interests
  • Supervise children during classroom transitions, group play, and hands‑on activities
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment aligned with state licensing regulations
  • Encourage independence, self‑help skills, and social interaction through positive guidance strategies
  • Observe and document children’s behavior and milestones for communication with families and the teaching team
  • Provide age‑appropriate support for infants or toddlers depending on assigned classroom
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a supportive, inclusive early childhood learning environment
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in child care, preschool, daycare, or toddler education
  • Understanding of child development principles and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP)
  • Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children
  • Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset
  • Ability to multitask, follow classroom structure, and adapt to children’s needs
  • High school diploma or GED required
Family Communication & School Collaboration
  • Maintain open communication with families through daily updates, progress reports, and scheduled conferences
  • Support and attend family engagement events, parent education sessions, and school celebrations
  • Collaborate with school administrators and fellow teachers to ensure alignment with school goals and state licensing standards
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 months of classroom experience in a licensed preschool or early childhood center
  • Proven ability to lead classroom activities and routines with confidence and consistency
  • Strong knowledge of child development, learning domains, and early intervention best practices
  • Effective communication skills with children, families, and co‑workers
  • A love for young children and a commitment to their growth and well‑being
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with curriculum models such as Reggio Emilia or Montessori is preferred, as our proprietary curriculum incorporates elements from both approaches.
  • Knowledge of state child care licensing regulations and quality standards
  • Background in inclusive education, sensory integration, or differentiated instruction is a plus
