Sr. Azure Infrastructure Engineer

VDOT is seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to implement, configure, manage, and provide guidance on cloud infrastructure in VDOT's Azure environment.

• Implement, configure, and maintain a secure and stable Azure environment.
• Provide technical guidance on Azure resource implementation, networking, and security policy, and monitor those resources.
• Oversee backup and disaster recovery operations in mission-critical enterprise environments.
• Plan and execute cloud migrations, moving workloads from on-premises to Azure.
• Support and troubleshoot production applications across multiple frameworks and technologies, including .NET, Java, SQL, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics.
• Manage vulnerability remediation using security tools such as Tenable.
• Create monitoring dashboards and alerts with Azure Monitor, Workbooks, and Alerting to enable critical observability for the ops team.
• Develop disaster recovery (DR) plans to minimize downtime and prevent data loss.
• Apply strong networking knowledge, including OSI layer functionality and network protocols.

• Experience providing guidance on the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of Azure resources.
• Experience in mission-critical enterprise environments, including backup and disaster recovery operations.
• Experience planning and executing cloud migrations from on-premises to Azure.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting production applications across .NET, Java, SQL, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and similar technologies.
• Experience working with security tools such as Tenable for vulnerability remediation.
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Workbooks, and Alerts for observability and dashboard creation.
• Experience crafting disaster recovery plans.
• Strong networking knowledge, encompassing OSI layers and network protocols.

  Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, etc.
• Networking-focused certifications:
  Network+, CCNA, etc.
